Greetings Louisburg UMC,
I hope all of you are having a great week! Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! I've heard many people this week call it the best Super Bowl matchup ever. Should be a great day and a great game! Sunday will certainly be "Red Sunday." Wear your Chiefs red!
Before the big game on Sunday night, I hope you will join us for worship either in person or through the live stream. This week we are turning to the second commandment, "Do Not Worship Idols." At the time that the Ten Commandments were given by God to Moses, many people were polytheistic. They worshipped God's that were represented through statues or "idols" that were specific to the various needs of the people. God was reestablishing with Moses that God is God. One God, a monotheistic belief in the one true God. If we think in terms of the "Ten Commandments Today" we quickly recognize that we are not worshipping the many God's prevalent in the biblical times. Does that mean that idols don't exist today? I hope you will join us for red Sunday and find out!
