Greetings Louisburg UMC,

I hope that you are having a great weekend!

Coming up in worship this week we are continuing our sermon series called "Who Are We?" Last week we began this series by exploring who we are as a church. As part of this sermon series, I want to be sure and invite you to the deliberative dialogue session tomorrow at 11:45. When we talk about who we are as a church we must ask who we are in the world today. I hope you will join us for conversation tomorrow around this important topic. In worship tomorrow, our focus turns to "Who Are You." As we are all a unique creation in Christ, how do we more fully live into who God has created us to be?

I also would like to say a few words about wearing masks. As you probably know, Miami county ended the county-wide mask mandate on April 1. Our church, just like our town, county, and country, is split on whether to wear masks. The Board Leadership team met this week to discuss this issue. The Board would like to encourage everyone to continue wearing masks. Our belief is that we are closing in on the end of the pandemic. We don't want to do anything to jeopardize safety. Think of it like a marathon. If you have run the first 25 miles, surely you can run that last 1.2 miles to finish. The same goes for the pandemic. If we are toward the end of needing masks for safety, then we want to finish strong! Therefore, we would encourage you to continue wearing masks. In May, we will be moving the 8:30 service outside. We hope that this is something to look forward to, especially if you don't want to wear a mask.
